Combating Burnout and Compassion Fatigue
DESCRIPTION
Burnout and compassion fatigue can diminish the way people feel about their work and contribute to things like turnover, especially for helping professionals. However, it is possible to combat these issues by building and promoting self-care and building self-compassion. This 2-hour course will teach participants how to define burnout and compassion fatigue, recognize the signs and symptoms in themselves and others, and respond effectively.
Participants will learn:
- the definitions of burnout and compassion fatigue, and factors that contribute to both
- how to recognize signs and symptoms in yourself and others
- the difference between responding proactively and reactively
- ways to promote self-compassion in your work and personal life
WHAT TO EXPECT
This is a self-paced course that you can complete on your own schedule. It consists of three (3) recorded videos and one brief activity. Each video or activity is expected to take approximately 25 minutes to complete. Learners may begin the course at any time and will have 30 days from enrollment to complete it.
ELIGIBILITY
This course is open to staff of any non-profit community organization or government agency that delivers social services in NYC.

“Great presentation and great facilitator. Raven was engaging and clear. I have spoken about this workshop to a lot of people I know...you do not have to be a boss or leader to take this workshop because it will teach you a lot about yourself.”
